Babalu is the Talk of the Bronx
December 15th, 2011   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »The buzz is growing in the Bronx about a new restaurant that’s about to bring Latin flavor and ambiance to the Throgsneck section of the Bronx. Babalu officially opens Thursday January 19 under the ownership of Ralph Mercado III, Jeff Lavino, William Padilla and Celebrity Chef Alex Garcia. Mercado chose the name Babalu as a tribute to his father, legendary concert impresario Ralph Mercado, who also ran a restaurant and lounge called Babalu in Midtown Manhattan in the early 2000s. Today’s Babalu will embody some of the same spirit of its namesake, with entertainment events, delicious food from Garcia—the executive chef at Babalu then, as well as now—and a family-style quality that will invite not only Latinos but everyone into the Babalu family. Keep an eye out for more information on the big grand opening, coming Thursday January 19.
