Ryan Gosling Saves The Day – Again

For most of the female (and some of the male) population of the world, there is not much that could compare to meeting Ryan Gosling – except for being saved by Ryan Gosling. Today, Tuesday April fourth, The Notebook and Ides of March actor stepped in as a knight-in-shining-armor, saving London-native Laurie Penny from getting hit by a taxi while crossing 6th Avenue in Manhattan.

Penny, writer for The New Statesmen, Independent, Guardian, Al-Jazeera, and The Nation broke the news via Twitter saying “I literally, LITERALLY just got saved from a car by Ryan Gosling. Literally. That actually just happened.” Following were tweets lessening in excitement and turned into a post on Gawker titled “Ryan Gosling Saved Me From a Speeding Car But There’s War In the Middle East So Everyone Calm Down”.

Penny tries to relay that there have been plenty of similar scenarios in the previous weeks and that the incident was not as big a deal as the press is making it seem. The feminist writer says “Friends and complete strangers prevent me from taking the fast-lane death walk in New York City on a regular basis, and the reason that this happens is that people are actually surprisingly decent when you get down to it…People do lovely, considerate things for other people all the time. I don’t believe that the fact that A-list celebrities occasionally act like human beings is in itself news.” When just last year Gosling left the gym “warmed up” in a muscle shirt, baring sculpted biceps  and broke up a fight between two men over a painting, also in Manhattan.

Penny goes on to say “I refuse to be cast in any sort of boring supporting female role, even though I have occasional trouble crossing the road, and even though I did swoon the teeniest tiniest bit when I realized it was him.”

I mean, who wouldn’t?
