On Wednesday, February 8, 2017 singer Jason Derulo posted a video on Instagram claiming that he was racially profiled by American Airlines employees. A member of his group was trying to check in 19 pieces of luggage and was told that they will have pay 6,000 dollars in order to get them check in. Jason Derulo had been already on the plane when he was told that one of his members could not board the plane due to the fee that they will have to pay. Once the plane landed back in Miami there were 15 law enforcement agents waiting to arrest Jason and the rest of his group. No charges were filed against him.

An American Airlines spokesperson released a statement saying “A passenger elected to deplane in order to travel with their checked bags.” “The passenger was rebooked with his checked bags on a later flight Wednesday evening.”(Respers).
