Chance the Rapper donates $1 million dollars to Chicago Public Schools

On Monday, March 6, 2017 Chance the Rapper whose real name is Chancelor Bennett held a press conference to announce that he is donating $ 1 million to Chicago Public Schools. A Chicago native Chance stated in the press conference “Today, I’m proud to announce that I am donating $1 million to CPS to support arts and enrichment programming,”. In his press conference Chance stated that every 100,000 dollars people donate to the organization SocialWorks he will donate 10,000 dollars to Chicago Public Schools. SocialWorks is an organization that helps raise money for Chicago Public Schools which Chance is the cofounder. He also encourages companies in the United States to donate to Chicago Public Schools because the Chicago Public School system is in trouble due to budget cuts. The governor of Chicago Bruce Rauner decided last month to veto $215 million bill which was going to benefit Chicago schools. Due to the veto of the bill this has caused Chicago schools to cut $46 million in the school budget.
