July 8th, 2014   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

Bad news for fans of actress Mila Kunis. The “Ted” star told W Magazine that she plans to take a break from acting once she gives birth to her first child with “That ‘70s Show” co-star Ashton Kutcher. “I have never wanted to be the person who only has business on her mind, To me, this job has always been a hobby that turned into a great profession, but I don‘t eat and breathe acting,” Kunis said. “I’m sure Meryl Streep has a very different point of view. But I’m excited about being a full-time mom.”  The loved-up couple is not only preparing for the arrival of their baby girl this fall but also for their upcoming wedding, which Kunis says will be a very private affair. “My theory on weddings is: Don’t invite anyone. Do it privately and secretly.” And we thought our invitation just got lost in the mail!

Hartnett Reveals Surprising Superhero Past

May 3rd, 2014   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

Some of our favorite superheroes almost looked very different under their masks. That’s the news coming out of Hollywood as actor Josh Hartnett told Details Magazine that he had the chance to play Batman, Superman and Spider-Man. ‘Spider-Man was something we talked about. Batman was another one. But I somehow knew those roles had potential to define me, and I didn’t want that,” said Hartnett. “I didn’t want to be labeled as Superman for the rest of my career. I was maybe 22, but I saw the danger.” That decision certainly worked out well for Christian Bale, Henry Cavill and Andrew Garfield! Instead, the actor carved out a career for himself that included parts in Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down and other films. Now, he’s gearing up for the premiere of his new Showtime TV show, Penny Dreadful, which co-stars Billie Piper.

Batman Vs. Superman Announces More Controversial Casting

February 6th, 2014   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

"Now You See Me" - Los Angeles Special Screening

The internet went into a tizzy last year when it was announced that Ben Affleck was tapped to play the Caped Crusader in Zack Snyder’s “Batman Vs. Superman.” Well it turns out that’s not the upcoming blockbuster’s only bit of odd casting. This week, it was announced that “Now You See Me” star Jesse Eisenberg will square off against Henry Cavill playing Superman’s arch nemesis Lex Luthor. While Eisenberg is best known for playing Mark Zuckerberg–a character that couldn’t be less like Lex Luthor–Snyder has expressed a lot of excitement for his choice. “What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman,” Snyder said. “Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.” We’ll see if he’s right when “Batman Vs. Superman” opens in 2015.

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Say the name three times and…well you know how it goes. Rumor has it that Beetlejuice may actually reappear on the big screen as director Tim Burton and star Michael Keaton are rumored to be negotiating a deal to make a sequel to the hit 1990s film. Though Beetlejuice 2 won’t be the director’s next project—that honor goes to “Big Eyes” starring Amy Adams and Cristoph Waltz—reports are that Burton has already secured “Dark Shadows” screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith to write the script for the highly-anticipated sequel. Let’s hope they can get Winona Ryder to come back as Lydia too!

“50 Shades of Grey” Cast Shakeups May Continue

October 17th, 2013   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

The much-anticipated movie adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey was dealt a pretty big blow this past weekend when lead actor Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the role, reportedly out of fear of becoming the next Robert Pattinson. As producers scramble to find another Christian Grey, rumors are swirling that Hunnam’s costar, former Ben & Kate actress Dakota Johnson, may soon be replaced as well. When the pair was first cast, Hunnam said that he and Johnson were perfectly matched. “As soon as we got in the room, I knew that I definitely wanted to do it,” he said. “There’s just a tangible chemistry between us. It felt exciting and fun and weird and compelling.” Since their chemistry was so essential to the casting, it’s fair to wonder whether filmmakers will want to only recast half of the team. 50 Shades’ many fans will certainly be watching for the latest developments.

Jim Carrey Turns His Back on Latest Flick

June 26th, 2013   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

Comedian Jim Carrey is causing controversy ahead of the release of his new film “Kick Ass 2.” Carrey plays Colonel Stars & Stripes, one of the movie’s many makeshift superheroes but the actor, who has been a vocal advocate for gun control, took to his Twitter page on Sunday to say he would not do publicity for the film on account of its violence. “I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence,” he tweeted. “I meant to say my apologies to others involve with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.” Ummm…he did see the first movie, right? Carrey clearly knew what he was getting into before signing on for the project and as writer Mark Millar noted, “Yes, the body-count is very high, but a movie called Kick-Ass 2 really has to do what it says on the tin … Like Jim, I’m horrified by real-life violence (even though I’m Scottish), but Kick-Ass 2 isn’t a documentary.” If you want to see what all the fuss is about, “Kick Ass 2” hits theaters in August.

Spidey Star Garfield Bonds with “Mini Me” Co-Star

May 29th, 2013   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield is currently in the Big Apple shooting scenes for the sequel to last summer’s big-screen blockbuster and he’s been seen palling around with his “mini me” on set. Cue the “awws.” Garfield and his young co-star Jorge Vegas were both wearing their Spidey suits and the Social Network hottie was seen kneeling down next to Vegas, giving him pointers between takes. The two gave each other a fist bump and Vegas cracked Garfield up by running off with his glasses on and mask pulled up to his forehead. This is after Garfield was spotted playing a game of pick-up basketball, in full costume, with local kids in Chinatown. Could he be any sweeter? Emma Stone is one lucky girl!

The Avengers May Not All Be Back for Round 2

May 15th, 2013   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

Three different actors have played The Incredible Hulk in recent memory. Could a fourth be in the cards? That’s the rumor that was sparked by Deadline, who ran an article speculating that cost cutting could lead to some recasting for Avengers 2 and that one of the most vulnerable actors could be Hulk/Bruce Banner actor Mark Ruffalo. Moviefone caught up with Ruffalo to set the record straight and he told the website that he signed on for six movies—five now, after The Avengers. “As far as I know [everyone is back],” he said. “But sometimes actors are the last people to know what’s going on. I haven’t been let go yet. I’d be really sad if they did. I can’t imagine that. That would be bad.” And you know what happens when the Hulk gets angry! Disney, you have been warned.

Wayne’s World Stars Reunite in Hollywood

April 30th, 2013   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

No way! Way! Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, aka Wayne and Garth, reunited in Los Angeles to celebrate 21 years since the classic film Wayne’s World hit the big screen. The former SNL cast mates were rumored to be in a feud ever since Myers allegedly stole one of Carvey’s voices for another of his classic characters, Dr. Evil. But the two were all smiles on the red carpet for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences event, as well as during a panel discussion that also included co-star Rob Lowe, director Penelope Spheeris, producer Lorne Michaels and executive producer Hawk Koch. Plenty more of the movie’s costars and crew showed up in the audience, including Tia Carrere, who played Cassandra, and Lara Flynn Boyle, who played the accident-prone Stacy. Sounds like it was a real Party Time!

MTV Snubs Twilight

March 11th, 2013   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

When MTV announced the nominations for its annual Movie Awards, one name that barely came up was Twilight. The popular teen vampire saga, which came to an end with this year’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 was left out of all of this year’s award categories except one—Taylor Lautner for Best Shirtless Performance. Since the franchise began, the Twilight movies have been nominated for 23 Golden Popcorn trophies and won 16 of them, including a win every year for best kiss and best movie. This time, stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson will have to pucker up from the sidelines as movies like Django Unchained, Ted and Silver Linings Playbook compete for awards show glory.

Spike Lee Passes on “Django”

December 28th, 2012   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

“Django Unchained” took over the box office during the Christmas holiday, raking in a staggering $15 million just on opening day! Critics and movie goers applauded the film and its performances, some even calling it one of the best of the year. One person, however, was not so impressed, who is of course none other than Mr. Spike Lee. “It’d be disrespectful to my ancestors [to see it],” Lee said in a recent interview with VibeTV. “That’s all I have to say. I can’t disrespect my ancestors.”
The controversial actor and film director, known for tackling race in his own movies, took to Twitter to further extrapolate on his stance. “American slavery was not a Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western. It was a Holocaust. My ancestors are slaves. Stolen from Africa. I will honor them.” Guess we won’t be seeing him in part two.
Despite Lee’s distaste for “Django Unchained,” other powerful African American figures gave their stamp approval. Oprah called it “proactive,” “twisted,” and “hilarious” on Twitter. Hip hop star Kanye West and comedian DL Hughley also praised the film. Personally, as a black Woman, I felt the film earned it’s applause and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. In my opinion, the more exposure our awful past gets, the more our nation can heal.
