Wow! Lopez looks like a true NYC detective! The 47 year-old actress and mom of two recently posed for promo photos for season 2 of Shades of Blue. “Harlee Santos (Jennifer Lopez), a single mom and resourceful detective, is now dealing with her fractured relationship with her mentor/boss Matt Wozniak (Ray Liotta) after he found out she was working with the FBI to deal with corruption within their squad. Now the crew is under scrutiny from the FBI and Internal Affairs and that’s not the only thing Harlee is wrestling with: At the end of the first season she killed her daughter’s father,” Chris Harnick explains the first season! Actor Leslie Jordan recently revealed in an interview with KPBS that NBC has taken on the series with a revival of 10 episodes. Star Trek: Discovery

December 27th, 2016   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

Set your phasers to stun! Star Trek fans get ready for an epic series created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman. The series is set to take place a decade before the original Star Trek: The Original Series. The series follows the crew of the USS Discovery, while also sticking to Star Trek’s original themes, as they set out to discover the Universe. Fuller has said in an interview earlier this year that the series will explore “an incident and an event in Star Trek history that’s been talked about but never been explored.” Fuller also mentioned his series, co-created with Kurtzman, would compare to a “novel over 13 episodes,” and may suggest a more serialized storyline. Regardless, Star Trek: Discovery will bring a modern update in graphics to it’s series’ counterparts. Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere on CBS in May 2017 before finally moving to All Access, a subscription based streaming video service from CBS.

Taboo (2017)

December 23rd, 2016   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

Tom Hardy stars in the new mini-series Taboo which is expected to air early next year. The show follows James Keziah Delaney (Hardy), a man longed believed to be dead, who returns to England from Africa to avenge his father’s death. Upon his return, he inherits what’s left of his father’s shipping empire but his father’s legacy is a poisoned chalice. With enemies at every turn, he must tread carefully or meet his death. Conspiracy, murder, betrayal, and a dark family mystery make for an interesting concoction in a tale of love and treachery. Hardy is also the co-creator and executive producer of the mini-series. The story is set in 1814, the year of the London Beer Flood, and has a dark and occult-like feel. Fans of American Horror Story and shows like Penny Dreadful will appreciate the mood. Taboo may find itself in the works for a full season.

If you don’t have a new year resolution yet then be sure to make this one of your top priorities! As a kid, my imagination ran wild with the Baudelaire orphans as we invented new ways to mess with Count Olaf. When the film debuted in 2004, I forced my mother to take me to the theater to see it! My mother isn’t one to take interest in dark comedies but even she admitted it was entertaining. Then…there was a video game. TRIPLE THE EXCITEMENT! I must have drove my parents insane with my own obsession. Jump forward to 2014, when Netflix announced they would adapt the A Series of Unfortunate Events novels into an original TV series, and you get one overjoyed nearly fully grown adult who has waited long enough. In just under a month, A Series of Unfortunate Events will be released on Netflix and the world will have one more thing to be grateful for. The series follows the Baudelaire orphans who, after a “fire” kills their parents, are forced to live with their uncle, Count Olaf. The series will follow the children and all the mischief that entails. If it’s anything like the movie or game, it’s bound to be a visually stunning series as well. In Netflix’s adaptation, Neil Patrick Harris will star as Count Olaf in contrast to the film which starred Jim Carrey. The series is set to be released on January 13, 2017.

Latest Episode of Game of Thrones leaves you in tears

May 24th, 2016   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

We should have seen it coming. It’s Game of Thrones. Not only does the show have a track record of ripping out our hearts and stomping on them until we scream “No more!”, but this week’s episode, The Door, was the midseason episode. No way we were getting through that without taking some serious damage to our delicate hope-filled hearts. Largely, this is down to Bran Stark’s scenes, which after being absent for the entirety of Season 5, have emerged as this season’s highlights. Not necessarily because of Bran himself – ultimately he’s a cipher more for interesting story developments, not that that this is a bad thing when it means that we finally start to get explanations for some of the show’s mysteries.

“The Door” is different. It is full of scenes that are written with aesthetic intention and vision—scenes that exist not just to be gotten through but also to be looked at, listened to, and experienced. The episode is not just episode five of the sixth season, it is also a collection of arresting moments. This episode does not just have one stunningly directed moment, or one unforgettable shot; it has numerous, one right after the other. Not only have we lost one of the most beloved characters on the show, but it happened just seconds after we discovered the truth behind his origins. Oh you cruel, cruel man George R. R. Martin. We knew there had to be some meaning to the word ‘Hodor’ as soon as we realised at the beginning of the season that Wylis hadn’t always been a one-word man. As it turns out Hodor was actually “Hold the door” which is what Meera was shouting at Hodor when she was trying to escape with Bran from the White Walkers. Bran, who was at the time mind-melding with the dying Three-Eyed Raven, heard her tell him to warg into Hodor so they could escape, but in his confused state he warged into young Hodor in his vision. When he heard Meera telling him to “Hold the door” so did Wylis and it caused a sort of seizure which caused him to repeatedly yell “Hold the door! Hold the door! Hodor!” Yep, Bran and his super-convenient-at-explaining-the-past visions fucked up Hodor royally, but the large-hearted hero still died to save him. “The Door” succeeds is because of the number of times it returns to that sense of universal confusion in a terrifying world: Varys challenging the new red priestess, Sansa questioning Littlefinger’s opaque motives, Arya remembering watching her own father’s beheading—helpless then and now—and even regal Dany realizing her champion is dying of something terminal. The tones and methods the show is using to tell its story are more diverse than ever, but “The Door” reminds the audience that the fundamental concerns of the show are still intact.

Marvel’s Agent Carter CANCELLED!

May 14th, 2016   admin  Uncategorized   No Comments »

Yes, you read that correctly, sadly Agent Carter has not been renewed for a third season and despite heaps of praise from critics, Carter finished its limited run with a 1.4 rating among adults under 50 and 4.3 million total viewers with DVR — both a far cry from Agents of SHIELD. For her part, Atwell already booked the lead (in first position) in buzzy ABC procedural Conviction, which has been looking good for a series order as Carter fans are left to ponder that cliffhanger ending. It probably didn’t help that Captain America: Civil War put a not-so-subtle period on the character’s long, exciting, and storied career in the Marvel Universe either. At least one of ABC’s Marvel shows will continue, however: Agents of SHIELD is coming back for another season. But it seems a spinoff that was to be called Marvel’s Most Wanted is not making the cut. And for Agent Carter, Jarvis, and the crew, that’s all she wrote.
