Joe Valerio, who oversaw the bulk of ESPN’s Sports Reporters show over the show’s 30 years on the air, died at the age of 71.

Valerio took over as producer of The Sports Reporters in 1989, and the show aired every Sunday morning from October 1988 to May 2017. Newspaper columnists from around the country debated the week’s most popular sporting headlines on the program.
