Matiss Kivlenieks, the goaltender for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League, died Sunday night after an accident involving fireworks at a party. According to authorities, Kivlenieks died from a fireworks mortar blast and chest trauma at the age of 24.
Hundreds Protest after an NJ Man’s Racist Rant goes Viral
On Monday, a six-minute video shared on Facebook went viral of Edward Cagney Mathews, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, hurling racial slurs at one of his neighbors during a scuffle outside of their house. This was not Mathews’ first instance of racism. Various neighbors have accused him of harassing them for years. In September 2020, a neighbor left an anonymous complaint on a Q&A, accusing Mathews of leaving aggressive notes and frequently attacking people verbally.
Canadiens Avoid Getting Swept, Beat Lightning 3-2
The Montreal Canadiens avoided getting shut out in the Stanley Cup Finals, coming back and beating the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 3-2 matchup in Game Four Monday.
In an overtime heartbreaker, the Lightning fell just short of hoisting up the Stanley Cup Trophy. They still lead the series 3-1, though, and will look to put the Canadiens away in Game Five on Wednesday.
