Evaluating the Knicks’ Offseason (So Far)

Evaluating the Knicks’ Offseason (So Far)

With the NBA Draft over and most of the major deals in free agency done, the New York Knicks’ roster additions and subtractions seem to be close to complete. The new front office, led by Leon Rose, William Wesley, and Scott Perry, have been awfully quiet about their moves in the brief time they’ve been with the team as a unit, but they’ve clearly been effective. When Rose took over as the team president in early 2020, the Knicks were a lowly lottery team, with little to no direction for the future. Since then, however, they’ve hired a new coach in Tom Thibodeau, who won the NBA’s Coach of the Year award this past season, who helped push this team to the fourth seed in the playoffs, where they made their first postseason appearance in eight years.

Why “Mean Girls” is Deeper than You Realized

2004’s teen comedy Mean Girls is arguably one of, if not, the most iconic and quotable teen movies of all time. The film, written by comedic star Tina Fey and starring Lindsey Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Rachel McAdams has been hugely successful, and it was adapted into a musical on Broadway in 2018. Mean Girls can just be seen as a fun, sleepover movie, but the message of the film may be deeper than you realized.

Why the Book Always Seems Better Than the Film Adaptation

It’s a common occurrence, I think, to tell someone about a movie you just saw that you personally believe to be very good. You tell them that you thought the acting was great, the story was emotionally resonant, and that you just had an overall great time watching it. Suddenly, your friend, who has been very eager to speak since hearing the film’s title, chimes in saying “if you think that was good, the book is ten times better!”

Free Agency Makes the NBA Postseason Fun

As a lover of the NBA, the end of the season is always a sad time. After enjoying multiple months of many entertaining and nail-biting games, then watching the intensity of the playoffs as teams get eliminated until there’s only one left standing; it’s hard to be excited having no more games to look forward to on a nightly basis.
