We have a Friday night family movie night tradition in our home, but we also enjoy reading. But every week, the most important decision is what to watch. We’ve come to realize that some of our favorite movies for family movie night are actually film versions of the most popular children’s books.
Great debates comparing and contrasting the books and the movies inevitably result from reading the books first. We also find it irresistible to discuss if the characters we see on film correspond to those in our own thoughts. Additionally, which is superior—the book or the movie?
In addition, if you have a reluctant reader at home, promising to watch the movie after finishing the book works wonders as an incentive!
