These health tips may seem a little counterproductive but they really do work!
- Drink Coffee to have a better nap.
A Japanese study found that consuming about 200mg of caffeine and then taking a 20-minute nap can make you feel more alert. Why? Because just as your 20-minute nap ends the caffeine kicks in and clears the brain of a molecule called adenosine, causing alertness.
- Do not brush after eating
Do not brush your teeth immediately after eating food or drinks, mainly if they were acidic. Acidic foods soften tooth enamel and brushing your teeth directly after can help to speed up the acid’s effect on your enamel. Dr. Howard R. Gamble of the Academy of General Dentistry suggests a wait period of 30 to 60 minutes after eating to brush.
- Exercise when you are tired
After a long day exercising can actually energize you. According to a study published in Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, Fatigue, mood and depression improved after one 30-minute exercise session. It also helps to function better mentally.
- Drink a hot beverage to cool off
Two current recent studies say that drinking hot tea when you need to cool off is a better option. When you drink a hot beverage your body senses the change in body temperature and increases the production of sweat. After the sweat evaporates on your skin your body begins to cool off.
- Skip Energy Drinks when you are Tired
Although energy drinks contain up to five times more caffeine than coffee, the boost they bring comes with other side effects such as nervousness and irritability. Also, other ingredients found in energy drinks such as Taurine stimulates your central nervous system and also spikes up your blood sugar only to make you crash a little while later.
