Adele Teases New Single, “Easy on Me”

The moment has finally come, Adele just announced that her new single, “Easy on Me” will be coming out on October 15. Fans have been speculating about the singer’s return after they spotted billboards with “30” on them at different locations.

Adele’s last album, 25, was released back in 2015 with the smashing single “Hello.” The album also won multiple awards, including Album of Year at the Grammys. Although the 33 year old has said previously that she will stop naming albums after her age, fans are eager to hear what the singer has in store for them.

Personally, the biggest question I have is if the new music will be as good as her old ones. Don’t get me wrong, Adele’s music will always be great and it will definitely be successful because of the anticipation. However, in an age where female artists are constantly being pushed to reinvent themselves with every album, will Adele be able to escape that comparison?

Adele’s 25 is a great album full of good songs, but it is mostly a repeat of her massively successful sophomore album, 21 if we’re being honest. Some of her pop peers such as Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga are always known for adapting new music influences whenever they have a new release.

When the artists play it too safe, they usually receive more mixed and negative reviews and attention. We’ve seen this with Katy Perry and her new album Smile or Justin Bieber’s Changes. On the other hand, when some singers decide to change up their sounds, they also end up making mediocre music, like Sam Smith’s Love Goes and recently Lorde’s Solar Power.

Big pop ballads are always Adele’s strong suit, and no one will ever take away the fact she wrote some of the best ballads in music, but it will be interesting to see if Adele will take a new direction for her music as her fourth studio album or stick with what works for her.
