Flashback Athlete of the Month for March 2023
Allen Iverson was born in Hampton, Virginia, on June 7, 1975. As an American basketball player, he’s known for both his explosive play and controversies. In his 14-year NBA career, he was known for his prolific scoring and rebellious style. His strong association with hip-hop made him one of the more prominent athletes of the hip-hop movement. E.S.P.N. rates him as the fifth-greatest N.B.A. shooting guard of all time.
Over the course of his 17 seasons as a professional basketball player, A.I. accumulated more than 24,000 points, dished out more than 5,000 assists, and was named an All-NBA performer seven times. A regular season scoring title was won by him four times (1999, 2001, 2002, 2005). With his hip-hop-influenced fashion, Iverson introduced a new sense of style to the NBA. On and off the court, he was never afraid to be himself. No matter what you thought of him, it was impossible to not respect him.
