Larissa de Macedo Machado aka Anitta is a world renowned Brazilian singer-songwriter with many accolades to her name. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Anitta’s professional career began in 2010, when she signed onto the independent funk label Furacão 2000.
Anitta released her debut single “Eu Vou Ficar” and then, a year later she released her second single, Fica Só Olhando. Her contract with Africa’s lasted until 2012, where she went on to sign with K2L Entertainment. A year later, Annoys made a huge leap by signing on with Warner Music Brasil, and released her debut album that same year. The albums main single Meiga e Abusada earned her more recognition after it became apart of the soundtrack for the telenovela Amor à Vida.
Anitta’s music has drawn influence from popular female artists like Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Sean Paul, Selena and more. Her bold and sultry music has a wide reach thanks to even releasing songs in Portuguese, Spanish, English, Italian, and French.
Since the release of her debut album, Anitta has released six studio albums and toured across the globe. Currently, Anitta has become one of Brazil’s biggest artists, becoming one of the few Latin artists to break into foreign markets like the USA, and has been effectively titled Queen of Brazilian Pop.
Additionally, Anitta has been recognized as a cultural and musical ambassador for Brazil by the Wall Street Journal. She’s also an activist, not afraid to incorporate commentary on many of Brazil’s social and environmental problems in her music and music videos.
Artists that Anitta have collaborated include Andrea Bocelli, Snoop Dogg, Maluma and J Balvin.
