American actress and model Anya Taylor-Joy was born in Miami on April 16, 1996. She started her modeling career when she was sixteen years old in London after her family moved from Argentina when she was six. Living in Argentina for such a big portion of her childhood is the reason she speaks Spanish, although she is just as fluent in English, switching between British and American accents whenever her movie role requires it.

She was scouted in the street by model agent Sarah Doukas, and although she always knew she wanted to be an actress, that has not stopped her from pursuing both careers. She made a cover shoot for Vanity Fair and has worked with designers such as Dior, Saint Laurent, and Calvin Klein.
