Four US Olympians have joined forces to start a new company. Sue Bird, Alex Morgan, Simone Manuel, and Chloe Kim are working together to boost attention on women in sports and the media. They announced the company, TOGETHXR, on Tuesday. They say the company is a media and commerce company for Gen Z and young millennial women.
After over 50 years, the Washington Football Team has ended its cheerleader program, which will be replaced with a more inclusive coed dance team. This move comes with a much larger wave of rebranding of the team that started last July when the team announced they were replacing their former name and logo.
There is no doubt that there is racism and bias in sports. Every single day, players face the harsh reality that they are often treated differently based on their race, religion, and/or sexual orientation. I believe that no matter how much we try to combat this issue in sports, there will always be some level of subconscious bias. No amount of education and punishment can completely eradicate the discrimination our country faces, but it is a good place to start.
Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal will be taking to the ring on Wednesday night in his first appearance for All Elite Wresting. Shaq will be participating in a mixed tag fight where he will be wrestling on a tag team with Jade Cargill, a former college basketball player and current professional wrestler signed with All Elite. The duo will take on Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet on Wednesday night on the show “Dynamite” at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.
Multiple golfers wore red for the final round of the WGC-Workday Championship on Sunday to honor Tiger Woods as he recovers from his recent car accident. Woods traditionally wears a red shirt and black pants when playing on Sundays, something that his mother suggested he do when he was younger.
Malik Beasley’s guilty plea will cost him $1.1 million, as he has been suspended from the Minnesota Timberwolves without pay for 12 games. Earlier this month, Beasley pled guilty to a felony charge of threats of violence during an incident that took place in September.
In a series of tweets, former Utah Jazz guard Elijah Millsap stated on Wednesday that he was the victim of bigoted remarks made by the team’s vice president of basketball operations, Dennis Lindsey. Millsap tweeted that bigotry “is still very well present” and that Lindsey “made bigot remarks in my exit interview while conversing with Q. Snyder ‘if you say one more word, I’ll cut your Black ass and send you back to Louisiana.’”

Yesterday, NBA coaches named the 2021 All-Star reserves and leading the list were Nets guard James Harden and Suns guard Chris Paul. The 70th annual All-Star game is set to be played on March 7th in Atlanta at the State Farm Arena. Coverage will begin at 5 P.M. EST and the Taco Bell Skills Challenge and MTN DEW 3-point competition will begin at 6:30 P.M. The actual game begins at 8 and half-time will consist of the AT&T Slam Dunk.
The performance of the US women’s national team in this year’s SheBelieves cup is, so far, up to par with the impressive expectations the team has cultivated in these past few years. The six-game tournament between the US, Argentina, Brazil, and Canada began February 18th with Brazil defeating Argentina and the United States coming out victorious over Canada.
