of West Harlem as is their custom when the weather permits. As they approached the 2/3 station on 125th and Lenox, in order to check the station (as it is one of the chief problem areas) they encountered a man bent over at his waist outside the subway station. The patrol approached him and asked him if he was ok and when he tried to stand up they could tell that he was sobbing.
After a long layoff because of the lockdown that Barcelona, Spain endured during the Pandemic. It was the longest in all of Europe. The Barcelona GA are back on patrol. Chapter leader Thor himself recovered from a tough bout with the CoronaVirus. Many other GA chapters went through similar lockdowns and setbacks and are themselves getting back to our mission. We all appreciate the dedication and renewed effort the Barcelona GA have brought to their mission in patrolling their streets and subway system.
We welcome into the Guardian Angels family our newest chapter in Lugano Switzerland. It is right across the border from Italy and is working in conjunction with our many Italian Guardian Angels chapters. Their focus is to combine a lot of social work with their patrols. They have a refugee problem in addition to homeless issues that virtually all of our chapters have to deal with. This once again shows the power of our global effort to make a difference in the communities where our members reside.
The NYC Guardian Angels, which now have a large number of Guardian Angels from China, Japan and the Philippines has doubled down on their patrols in the Asian communities of NYC. For over a year we have warned that there has been an increase of attacks against Asians in the streets and Subways mostly by Emotionally Disturbed People who think that Asians are carriers of Covid 19.

50TH & LEXINGTON (2/17/2021, 10:30 A.M.): Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels, will be joined by dozens of fellow Guardian Angels in a press conference to announce increased patrols on the New York City subway system to combat a recent surge in violent crime just days before the public transit system resumes overnight hours.
This past Saturday 2/6 we were asked to be the honor guard for the funeral caravan for the photo/journalist for the Chinatown community CORKY LEE. He was a great friend to all of our Guardian Angels and helped in the last year to keep us connected to everyone and anything going on in the Chinese community.
Last week a beautiful black & white cat named “Tuxedo” and dubbed the “Mayor of NYCHA’s Breukelen Houses” was viciously killed by two pit bulls egged on by their sadistic owners. Tuxedo had lived on the grounds since 2011 and was part of a managed feral colony cared for by cat rescuer Latonya Walker.
