Latin Artist of the Month for January 2020

Bio

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as “Bad Bunny,” is a young urban music singer, most recognized in the subgenre of the Latin Trap. Originally from Puerto Rico, this talented artist has been surrounded by music since he was born, which led him to have a passion for her from an early age.

During Christmas and for all his birthdays, Bad Bunny asked his parents for music CDs: rap, reggaeton, salsa, rock, and his musical influences, artists like Tego Calderón, VicoC, Marc Anthony, among others. Although his parents were not musicians, they never prevented him from developing in art and allowed him to have a very early start, since he sang every time he was presented at school.

Bad Bunny never took formal music classes or studied any instrument, but his passion led him to learn and perfect his talent on his own. He is a singer, songwriter and creator of his own songs of his own knowledge and his music transmits a much more special internal rhythm than any musical teaching he could have had.

So much was his love for music that he began to create songs and upload them to the popular YouTube video website and share them on social networks, where his fan base began to grow. In mid-2016, Bad Bunny joins Hear This Music, a label created by DJ Luian and Los Mambo Kingz and presented us with the hit “La Ocasión,” the anthem of Trap music.

With the support of Hear This Music, the artist has achieved unprecedented success with singles like “Tell them,” “I am Worse” and “You Do not Live Thus,” and has dominated the world of digital music, already reaching more than half a billion views on his videos on his official YouTube channel and conquering popularity lists on all digital music platforms. Bad Bunny has also participated in songs with artists such as Farruko, De La Ghetto, J Balvin, Maluma, Nicky Jam and Ozuna, among other urban music stars.

This year, Bad Bunny demonstrated his already imposing dominance, influence and demand by dominating Europe with a 20-day concert tour during which he performed 23 completely sold out concerts to crowds of thousands of fans, a monumental achievement so early in his career, which grows exponentially.

Reaching even more goals, upon returning from Europe, the singer-songwriter joined other urban music stars at the Latin Trap Panel, part of the 2017 Billboard Latin Music Conference, a great step and honor for any artist in his first year of career. During the week, Bad Bunny set a new industry standard by projecting excellence with his stellar presentation during the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2017, where he lit the stage with an interpretation of his most recent collaboration with J Balvin, “Si Tu Novio It leaves you alone. “

With a short but impressive career, Bad Bunny has had a colossal success, where his music is not only heard in his native Puerto Rico or in Latin America, but also throughout the United States and Europe. Currently, its Bad Bunny brand has more than half a billion views on YouTube and other digital platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and Pandora, which lists it as one of the leading urban genre artists and one of the pioneers of the Latin Trap.
