Artist of the Month for November 2020

Bio

You may recognize the name Ben Platt from the movie, Pitch Perfect, or the Netflix Original Series, The Politician. If you are a fan of Broadway, you may have seen Ben Platt act in Dear Evan Hansen and the Book of Mormon. Platt is not only an actor, but he is an incredibly talented singer-songwriter.

Ben Platt was born on September 24th, 1993 in Los Angeles, California. He is one of five children and grew up with his father being in the film, television, and theater industry. For college, he ended up dropping out of Columbia University to be in the play, The Book of Mormon.

In 2017, Platt won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a leading Actor in a Musical for his role in Dear Evan Hansen. Also, in 2017, Platt Signed with Atlantic Records. For his role in the politician, he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor- Television Series Musical or Comedy. If you are a fan of The Politician, you are in luck, because there will be more seasons coming for this series.

On March 29, 2019, Ben Platt released his album, Sing to Me Instead. This album showcased his incredible talent, and every song is personal to him. Although he had a tour, you can find one of his recorded concerts on Netflix titled: Ben Platt Live From Radio City Music Hall. He is not only known for being an actor and singer but being open about being a part of the LGBTQ+ community.  The lessons he has learned throughout his lifetime is inspiring to hear about through his music and acting.
