Summer is on its way, which means new makeup trends, and this year’s batch is playful, fun, and perfect for the upcoming summer months.
A Summer Flush
NY-based celebrity makeup artist, Judi Gabbay, who has worked with Bebe Rexha and Madison Beer, told Bustle that “super flirtatious cheeks fused into the center of the face (and almost into the under eye) will be huge this summer.”
A tip to achieve this look is to take your favorite cream blush on the top of your cheekbones and slightly under the outer part of the under eye and blend it with a wet sponge into the concealer. Setting with a loose pink undertone powder will help for all-day wear and a youthful flush of color.
Two-Tone Lips
A two-tone lip allows for some extra creativity. You can choose contrasting shades on the top and bottom lip. Or if you want to get a little fancier – add some lip art by drawing an outline around your lips in one color and filling it in with another color.
Quick tip: Choose a liquid lipstick (in two shades) that dries down quickly. Swipe on one color, wait for it to dry, then swipe on the second color and wait for it to dry before letting your lips touch.
Fresh Skin or Minimal Makeup
The fresh, dewy, “barely there” makeup look swept the 2023 summer runways. In the heat of summer, a full-coverage foundation can just melt off your face. A good way to achieve this fresh face look is a sheer skin tint blended with a damp sponge and a light cream blush to add some color to your cheeks. Simple and easy.
Disco Makeup
In contrast to the fresh skin look, embellishments and shimmer were seen on the runways this year as well. Whether it’s a night on the town or adding some glitter and shimmer to your day, more is more. Don’t be afraid to add gems, glitter, and shine to your lips and cheekbones.
Pastel Eyes
If you like minimal makeup but want a little something extra, add a pop of pastel liner along your lower water lines.
Want a little more color? Use pastel eyeshadow!
Tip: If you feel like the eyeshadow looks chalky, dab a white eyeshadow base across your lids before patting on your colored eyeshadow with a brush.
This summer’s makeup trends range from colorful to “you-do-you” – as it should be. Whatever you choose, summer makeup is meant to be what works best for you.
