Best Horror Movies to Watch on Prime Video

If you’re in the mood for something scary, there’s nothing like the thrill of a good horror movie. The tingles, goosebumps, and heart-pounding horror of poltergeists and witches is only one flavor of horror, though. There’s also the side of horror that welcomes lovable characters with a dash of terror, like sexy vampires or ghosts that play on your sympathy. Whatever kind of mood you’re in, here is a list of some of the best horror movies that can be found in the ever-changing Amazon Prime library right now.

  1. The Menu

This movie was released in 2022 and combined horror and comedy in a dark, twisted way. It’s directed by Mark Mylod, written by Seth Reiss and Will Tracy, and based on an original story created by Tracy. This movie takes place in an exclusive restaurant on a remote island and follows the journey of a young couple as they eat the shocking items on the menu that the cook has prepared for them. If you’re brave enough, grab some snacks (and a bucket) because this one may make your stomach turn.

  1. Terrifier 2

This movie, directed by Damien Leone, is the second installment of the Terrifier movies. It’s definitely horrifying since it follows the creepy Art the Clown after he is resurrected by an evil entity. He returns to the quiet town of Miles County, where he targets a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night. This would be the perfect movie for people longing for that spooky autumn vibe right now.

  1. Smile

After seeing this movie in theaters when it was released, I can genuinely say that it is absolutely terrifying. It is directed by Parker Finn and follows a psychiatrist who witnessed a bizarre, traumatic incident happen to a patient in her office. Throughout the movie, she realizes that she is being threatened by an evil entity that possesses the people around her, making them commit horrible acts themselves.

  1. Bones and All

This is definitely one of the more dramatic newly released horror films since it includes many different genres along with horrifying elements. There’s romance, gore, action, and suspense all in one film. Plus, Timothee Chalamet has a couple of steamy scenes!

  1. The Black Phone

This movie is truly terrifying in many different ways. It follows a 13-year-old boy that is abducted and locked in a soundproof basement. He starts receiving calls on a disconnected phone from the killer’s past victims while he is trapped. If you are someone that’s into suspenseful, anxiety-inducing thrillers, this is definitely the one for you.

  1. Nope

First of all, the title of this movie makes me giggle. But, most importantly, yes, it is scary in a sci-fi kind of way. If you enjoy questioning your whole existence and having existential crises, watch this movie! It’s got all the uncanny, shocking, and chilling elements that every sci-fi fan would be proud of. It’s also directed by Jordan Peele, so you really can’t go wrong there.

  1. Beast

Last but not least, we have Beast. A father and his two teenage daughters are hunted by a huge, relentless lion while out in the Savannah in Africa. This is definitely much more of a realistic fear and will have you on the edge of your seat, hoping that everyone survives.
