Biden Says Russian Invasion on Ukraine Remains Distinctly Possible

As tensions arise in the Ukraine, U.S. President Joe Biden is in a tough position on whether or not to believe Russian officials when they stated that Russian troops have withdrawn from the borders. On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, Russian officials released video footage of tanks being loaded on railway cars as well as communicating that troops were returning to their home bases after completing military drills.

U.S. President Joe Biden during a televised statement stated, “That would be good, but we have not verified that yet. An invasion by Moscow remained distinctly possible.” Joe Biden is highly urging all U.S. citizens in Ukraine to leave the country. Jake Sullivan the National Security Advisor also said, “Any American in Ukraine should leave as soon as possible.”

Russia’s embassy in Washington stated in a Tweet, “We stress once again, [Russia] is not going to attack anyone.” It is claimed that they have no plan to attack and are accusing the U.S. of hysteria; however, there are 130,000 Russian troops staged outside of Ukraine.

In an interview with NBC News exclusively with Biden, he said “We’re dealing with one of the largest armies in the world, it’s a very different situation and things can go crazy quickly.” Biden is claiming that there was no plan to send U.S. soldiers into Ukraine to fight; however, the U.S. did supply military equipment and training to Ukraine’s government in preparation for the possible invasion.
