A Colombian group based in Bogota, Bomba Estereo has had their music described as “electro tropical” or “psychedelic cumbia.” They are known to mix tropical, cumbia, vallenato, and campeta rhythms into electro, reggae, and pop, creating a new form of dance music. Their debut album, Vol. 1, came out in 2006 as the founder, Simón Mejía’s, solo album with the assistance from other singers and rappers.

In 2010 they were voted MTV’s “Best New Band in the World”, and were nominated for two Latin Grammys including Best Alternative Music Album and Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album. Recently in February 2021, Bomba Estereo issued the pre-release of their single “Agua” featuring guest vocalist Lido Pimienta. In September, they released their Grammy-nominated sixth long-player, the Damien Taylor-mixed Deja.
