Netflix’s Bridgerton is adding three fresh new faces to its third season.
The popular Shondaland romance has added Daniel Francis, Sam Phillips, and James Phoon to the cast list for the upcoming season, which has already begun production in London.
Daniel Francis (Once Upon a Time and Stay Close) is said to play Marcus Debling, a charismatic man who “lights up every room he enters.” He attracts the notice of many matriarchs and a sea of others in the show.
Sam Phillips (The Crown) is said to play Lord Debling, a genial aristocrat with unique and unusual interests. However, his wealth and his title back up his interests. Thus, he still has a long line of young ladies looking to marry him.
James Phoon (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) will play Dankworth, who somewhat lacks wit but makes up for it with his looks.
Season three of Bridgerton will focus more on the love story of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), which is remarkably different from the order of Julia Quinn’s novel series, in which the Penelope-Colin story is the focus of book four, instead of three.
In the same fashion as the other seasons, this season will be full of the usual romantic cat and mouse game that is very popular in the earlier seasons, as Collin will offer to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband once he finds out that she is giving him the cold shoulder. Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly.
Bridgerton Season 1 and 2 are available to stream on Netflix now. Season 3 is currently in production.
