Buffalo Bills request snow shovelers again ahead of AFC Divisional game vs. Chiefs

Last weekend a series of emergent weather conditions prevented the Buffalo Bills from hosting the Wildcard Playoff Game vs. the Steelers, so the playoff was moved to Monday (Jan.15). On Sunday, ahead of the postponed game, the Bills requested overnight volunteer shovelers through their website and social media post, to help clear Highmark Stadium from a heavy snowfall. Last night at around 6:30 pm the Bills once again requested volunteers on X (formerly Twitter), and this morning on their site.

Leading up to the Bills’ multiple public requests for help both the NFL and New York Governor Kathy Hochul kept the public aware of developing circumstances and their expectations for the game that was finally able to take place last Monday.

“I’ve been in communication with @NFL commissioner Roger Goodell regarding the dangerous conditions in Buffalo this weekend. In consultation with our emergency response teams,

@BuffaloBills leadership, and the NFL, the Bills game will be postponed to 4:30 pm Monday”, said Hochul on X.

Following the events over the weekend, the bills and volunteers managed to clear the Stadium for the game against the Steelers, but due to ongoing heavy snowfalls they must do it once again before their game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“We’re going to need some snow shovelers (again)!”, read the post on the Bills’ official social media.

On their official website, the Bills went into further detail about their request. Volunteers may arrive at a designated parking starting at 2:00 pm on Friday (Jan. 19) and head to Gate 7 Section 112 to register for work. The bills assured volunteers will be compensated at a rate of $20 per hour and will be provided with “a comfortable warm break area”. Volunteers must be 18 years or older with a valid ID or “under 18 with proper working papers”.

Additionally, the bills will be donating $10,000 to the non-profit Eight Days of Hope for a rapid response effort which will also begin on Friday. The non-profit is preparing a “Rapid Response Heavy Equipment” team which will focus on Western New York to help with snow removal, this is in response to the lake-effect snow that has covered the area following several days of heavy snowfall per buffaloills.com.

We are hopeful many eager volunteers will answer the call ahead of the game.
