California Ok’s Bill to Ban Food with Cancer-Linked Additives

Moving closer to being passed in California is a Law that would ban five chemicals we see in everyday snacks that are linked to cancer.

These five chemicals are already banned in the EU.

What are these five chemicals?

Brominated vegetable oil, potassium bromate, titanium dioxide, red three, and propylparaben.

Asm Gabriel, a Democrat who represents the 46th district just northwest of Los Angeles, said on Wednesday:

‘There is no realistic chance that this bill will result in Skittles or any other product being pulled off the shelf.

‘The idea here is for these companies to make minor modifications to their recipes so that these products no longer include dangerous and toxic chemicals.’

He added: ‘Skittles and many other brands have already made changes to their recipes in the European Union, the United Kingdom, and other nations where these chemicals are banned.

‘While the chemical companies might want you to believe we’re going too far with this bill, we are, in fact, many steps behind the rest of the world.

‘We simply want our kids to have the same protection.’
