Bio

Carole King needs no further introduction. She is one of, if not, the most successful female songwriter of all time, having written or co-written 118 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. King also wrote 61 hits that charted in the UK, making her the most successful female songwriter in the UK between 1962 and 2005.

King started her career by writing successful songs with her first husband Gerry Goffin. In 1971, her album Tapestry was released. The album held the record for most weeks at No. 1 by a female artist for more than 20 years. Some of the hit songs include, “You’ve Got a Friend,” “So Far Away,” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”

She has sold more than 75 million records worldwide. She has won four Grammys and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. King was also inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a performer and songwriter.

King is the first female recipient of the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, and her music continues to inspire a new generation of female songwriters.
