Celebrities Wearing the Polka Dot Trend for Autumn/Winter 2011

Olivia Wilde wore an amazing Gucci high-necked gown for the premiere of Cowboys and Aliens. Gucci is without a doubt one of the biggest designer labels to champion the “spot” trend.
We also saw Christina Aguilera in a flirty Dolce & Gabbana dress.
But of course we wouldn’t call it a trend until we’ve seen Rihanna totally rocking the dots! The sassy singer chose the polka dot on a lace-overlay dress for the launch of her perfume “Reb’l Flower”
Finally, we have Kate Winslet wearing one of the most beautiful and iconic polka dot dresses ever! The Stella McCartney sheath dress looked stunning on her at the premiere of “Mildred Pierce”.

The fashion industry strives to become more bold and unique every year, with Vogue now introducing what has been categorized as “a live editorial fashion show, street fair, and special surprises,” aptly called “Vogue World.” The famous magazine is celebrating their 130th anniversary this year, which means they had to go above and beyond and create an interactive experience for fashion lovers that exceeds simply watching runway shows. While New York Fashion week is being held less than a month from now, from September 9th to 14th, you’re going to want to take work off on Monday, September 12th for the Vogue World festivities.

Estée Lauder to Buyout Tom Ford for At Least 3 Billion

Rumors are going around in the fashion world that Tom Ford is looking to sell his namesake brand just after Bloomberg said the fashion and beauty business had appointed Goldman Sachs to find a buyer. Speculation is rising that Estée Lauder may be the leading contender to buy out the business as it already has the license for Tom Ford Beauty. Tom Ford, the company, currently designs and retails men’s and women’s wear, accessories, fragrances, beauty, and eyewear. Estée Lauder, which does not directly operate any fashion companies, could license out the ready-to-wear if it were to acquire the business.

    Appropriating’ Chinese Skirt

According to the ‘New York Post’, many Chinese student protestors stood outside one of the label’s Paris stores on Avenue des Champs-Elysées.

The Ethics Of Depop Sellers Upselling Thrift Finds

Since vintage 70s, 90s, and 2000s looks have come back into style over the past couple years, the clothing app Depop, which lets users buy and sell their new and used clothes, has blown up as a hub for unique items that cannot be found anywhere else. However, what once began as a way for individuals to resell their old clothing or for new designers to market their original pieces has now transitioned into a comprehensive marketplace of users thrifting clothing and reselling them for quadruple the price. Based on the higher demand for vintage clothing items, thrifting has been the primary method for fashion-forward people to enhance their wardrobes, and those who don’t have access to prime thrift stores turn to Depop for thrifted items. The problem lies in the ethics of reselling items that were originally donated for lower-income individuals, and are now generating sizable incomes for privileged individuals through Depop.
