Chesney Hawkes Wants Adele to Sing One of His Songs

The retro pop singer was in the snappy Sixty Seconds interview column of the Metro Newspaper where he talked about his career, his family, and his crazy nights out with Lemmy from Motörhead in the seven years that he turned back on pop music. He mentioned having some songs written for Adele that he’d love her to sing.

Chesney Hawkes, who has over three decades of experience in the music industry, has written songs for many other artists as well such as Caprice’s “Once Around The Sun.” When asked who he would most like to record one of his songs, he cheekily said, “Adele, if you’re listening, I’ve got some songs for you!”

The British pop singer now lives in Los Angeles, and he admitted that moving to the United States led to some amazing experiences.

He said, “In New York I did CBGBs and all those places Blondie, Lou Reed, and The Velvet Underground had done.” He continued, “It was the same in LA – I did Whisky A Go Go, The Viper Room, and The Rainbow. We would bump into people like Lemmy from Motorhead, who came to a gig.”

The 50-year-old star revealed he always made sure to visit the Heavy Metal legend whenever he was in town. He added, “He literally lived at this one table at The Rainbow. I used to do a pilgrimage to see Lemmy every time I came to LA.”

Hawkes also talked about the upcoming release of a box set with all his previous work and the inspiration behind it: “Originally it was for the 30th anniversary of the Buddy’s Song album, which has The One And Only on it,” he said. “But that was last year and of course, it got put back. So it could be 30 years of The One And Only or just 50 years of me. It can be anything!”

Fans can also expect a new album with original material soon.
