Leury José Tejeda Brito, better known as Chimbala, is a rapper, singer and songwriter from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is also arguably one of the primary performers of Dembow across Latin America. Chimbala has collaborated with artists such as El Alfa, Mozart La Para,José Reyes, Don Miguelo, Black Point and La Materalista, Farruko, Natti Natasha, and Justin Quiles. While he has been well known around Dominican Republic since 2012, Chimbala rose to world-wide fame after catching Farruko’s attention with the song “Maniquí,” later doing a remix with him.

Following El Alfa’s sold-out Madison Square Garden show in fall of 2021, Chimbala is set to continue representing the Dembow genre, having his first solo show in NYC at United Palace in March 2022.
