Chris Martin says Coldplay’s 12th Album will be their last

Chris Martin says Coldplay’s 12th Album will be their laColdplay’s lead singer Chris Martin sat down with Zane Lowe from Apple Music for an exclusive interview released yesterday on YouTube. Lowe asks about Martin’s newest album, “Moon Music” and the legacy that Coldplay has left behind over the last two decades.

Martin talked about how he and his bandmates have a plan for the future of Coldplay. They want to continue touring and making music but don’t want it to drag on too long. “We’re only gonna do 12 proper albums and that’s real…I’ll tell you why. It’s really important that we have that limit. First of all, there’s only 12, well, there’s only eight Harry Potters or seven Harry Potters. There’s only 12 and a half Beatles albums. There’s about the same Bob Marley, so all of our heroes. And also having that limit means that the quality control is so high right now, and for a song to make it, it’s almost impossible, which is great. And so where we could be kind of coasting, we’re trying to improve.” Martin said.

Their last album came out in 2021 and sold 395,000 copies in the United States. This marked just the second time the band could not sell 1 million copies in the US. This is partially due to the minimal publicity surrounding that album, but this time around Martin and Co. have been more active in promoting the record.

Their first full-length interview is with Zane Lowe linked below:

Coldplay’s 10th album titled “Moon Music” will be released this Friday, October 4th.
