After parting ways amicably with the New York Jets, Dalvin Cook is set to join the Baltimore Ravens just in time for the playoffs. The news was first spotted by ESPN’s insider Adam Schefter.
According to ESPN, The Jets picked up Cook in August with a one-year contract of $5.8 million in guaranteed money. After a frustrating few months with the Jets, where he earned a low 214 rushing yards on 67 carries and no touchdowns, Cook parted ways and allegedly restructured his contract to forfeit the remaining money on his deal with the Jets.
Cook joins the Ravens following a loss of players, including J.K. Dobbins to a torn Achilles, and Keaton Mitchell to a torn ACL.
Making up for the losses, the Ravens have focused on Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, and Melvin Gordon on the field. Cook is expected to join the Ravens’ practice quad on Friday following a successful physical. He will also likely work alongside running back Jake Funk, who the Ravens have recently signed on.
It’s unknown how he’ll play with the Ravens, but CBS Sports suggests that Cook could take up Gordon’s role as third back to better assist while carrying a heavier role.
