Photographer of the Month for February 2023
Born in Brooklyn, New York, photographer Danielle Bennett is a lifestyle event photographer. The sounds of salsa, merengue, and soca-driven family events nurtured her love for capturing memories. Seeing through the lens was a way for her family to stay connected with others living overseas. When her Tío arrived from Panama, Danielle became his assistant, arranging family and friends to get the right shot. Also, spending summers in Barbados, she became the designated photographer capturing everyday and native wildlife.
Danielle’s eye for colorful, creative compositions comes naturally. She explains it, like food like rice and peas, cou-cou, and flying fish; getting the right blend and balance of ingredients turns a generic photoshoot into something interesting. She credits her mom and dad’s love of life and adventure, taking chances leaving their respective home countries and becoming Americans but never losing the zeal of their culture and passing it down to her and her two older sisters. Her family’s love, support, and outlook on life really taught her the world is truly full of doors of possibilities.
DLSR camera in tow, Danielle has dived right into the world of professional photography, taking photos of Antique Vintage Cars and NYC landscapes. Wonderful causes such as The Cristian Rivera Foundation Celebrity Gala, The New Balance 5th Ave Mile Run Marathon, and Cultural events like The West Indian Day Parade have been welcome additions to her journey in photography, whether traveling in Italy or hopping over to Trinity Ave in the Bronx, Danielle’s deepest desire as a photographer is to convey the subjects beauty, grit, and truth. To capture the story of the subject within her photographs.
