Flashback Athlete of the Month for October 2022
A former professional basketball player, Dwyane Wade is best known for his spectacular 16-year career playing for the NBA’s Miami Heat. A robust player that became the favorite of thousands of b-ball fans from continents over, Wade won a stunning 3 NBA Championships, was a 13-time NBA All-Star, an 8-time member of the All-NBA Team, and a 3-time member of the All-Defensive Team.
Starting as a successful college player, Dwyane Wade was drafted into the Heat during the 2003 NBA Draft. It was during his third season with them that he led the Miami Heat to their first NBA Championship, which would set the tone for the rest of his fruitful career. He would help the United State’s men’s basketball team win the coveted gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and then go on to win his sole NBA scoring title in the 2008-09 season for leading both the league and the game in overall points. Alongside Lebron James and Chris Bosh, Dwyane skillfully guided the Miami Heat to four executive NBA finals from 2011 to 2014. Though Dwyane briefly left the Heat to join the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers from 2016-18, he would rejoin the Heat in 2019 for the final season of his career, choosing to retire with the team that led him to stardom. For his outstanding skill in his sport, Dwyane was honored as one of the NBA’s all-time greatest players in 2017 by being named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
