Eagles Lineman Brandon Graham Fined more than Trent Williams for Unsportsmanlike Conduct in NFC Championship

Brandon Graham, a defensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles, attracted the wrath of the NFL on Saturday. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Graham was reportedly fined $13,261 for his unsportsmanlike behavior in the NFC championship game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Given that Graham was not punished for gratuitous violence throughout the competition, the news is unexpected. When the league watched the game’s video, which the Eagles won 31-7, it must have seen something the officials did not.

Graham was fined more than 49ers lineman Trent Williams, so whatever he did must have been quite awful. Pelissero reports that the NFL penalized Williams $12,731 for pushing Eagles safety K’Von Wallace to the ground.

Late in the fourth quarter, the incident took place. At the time of the penalty, the Eagles were up 31-7. Williams was kicked out of the competition. Wallace, who punched after rising off the ground, was dismissed but reportedly escaped punishment.

These sanctions have not been confirmed by the NFL.

On February 12, Graham and the Philadelphia Eagles will play against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII. For that match, Graham is anticipated to be available.

Op-Ed: Baltimore Ravens, Lamar Jackson Contract Woes are a Bad Omen

This isn’t the precedent set by any previous NFL contract negotiation, as far as I’ve seen. In December of last year, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of Russia, signed expanded LGBTQ laws, one of which is the LGBTQ propaganda law. This bill makes it illegal for anyone to promote same-sex relationships or suggests that non-heterosexual orientations are “normal.” This is, in part, a defense against US influence in Russia since the president equated the US’s LGBTQ freedom to devil worshipping and did not understand the need for that freedom to be expanded worldwide: “Let them live there, do not touch us.”

Op-Ed: Football: The Field of Concussions

While American football is seen as an extremely popular, fun, and worldly-viewed contact sport, it is also the demise of a myriad of brains. And, I believe, an inhumane way of slowly and subconsciously targeting quality of life through tackles and body slams. A sport responsible for the deterioration of not only the brain but also human life.

The pot is stirring for the women’s NCAA tournament! Be careful placing your bet; many things are uncertain this year in the women’s NCAA Sweet 16 tournament. On Saturday, we had huge comebacks; three teams rallied from at least 16 points down to win on the same day.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has made his intentions clear this off-season: he has seen all he has wanted to see from the Green Bay Packers.  He’s ready to move onto the greener pasture (and depleted quarterback room) that is the New York Jets. The New York Jets want the exact same thing.
