Underground Artist of the Month for February 2021
“Easy Life” an alternative band with chill hip-hop tones, from Leicester, UK has been gaining popularity since they were awarded the 2nd place spot on the BBC’s annual music poll, “Sound of 2020.”
The band of five delivers a one-of-a-kind sound that includes the traditional instrumentation of an alt band, but also includes horns, synthesizer and saxophone, giving them a sound that is both timely and fresh, but also authentic and nostalgic, and above all: delightfully sad.
The band was started by front man Murray Matravers who says that the inspiration for their music comes from difficulties in their lives, in juxtaposition with their name. The Song “Pockets” talks about the feeling when you know you can’t afford your bills, and the futile effort to find happiness from unhealthy vices, and “Slow Motion” is a tribute to Matravers grandmother about not taking life for granted.
“Easy Life is a form of escapism,” said the singer. “Living is proving to be increasingly difficult with all the pressures that modern life brings, and Easy Life rejects this materialistic philosophy.”
