Estée Lauder and Balmain to Launch “BALMAIN BEAUTY”

It’ll be the best of both worlds: Cosmetics giant Estée Lauder and French luxury fashion house Balmain have officially linked to introducing an innovative new beauty line called BALMAIN BEAUTY, set to launch in Autumn 2024.

Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteng has transformed Balmain into a buzz-worthy cultural force since taking over in 2011, garnering loyalty from magazine editors, celebs, and street style influencers alike. Balmain’s presence on Instagram is still a novelty in the world of high fashion, but Rousteng’s bold approach to the capricious realm of social media has made Balmain one of the most distinguished fashion labels in the industry. Now, he plans to take that to a new level with BALMAIN BEAUTY.

“We’ve been determined to reflect the way that today’s diverse generation wishes to live and dress,” Rousteng said in an Instagram video about the collaboration. “So, obviously, there was no way that we were going to expand into beauty without ensuring that we had found the partner who understood and shared our outlook. From the very beginning, the team at Estée Lauder Companies made it very clear that they support Balmain’s distinctive vision, as well as our goal of disrupting the global luxury beauty paradigm. Knowing that — and knowing that Estée Lauder is the paragon of excellence — well, I can’t wait to start working with them.”

Though the finer details (such as specific products) about BALMAIN BEAUTY are scant, we do know that both Balmain and Estée Lauder have a shared vision of diversity and innovation in mind. In a statement, the cosmetics company shared that the aim of the collaboration “is to transform the luxury and couture beauty world through exceptional design, singular craftsmanship, and an unyielding commitment to innovation.”

If BALMAIN BEAUTY really does become the cosmetics line of the decade, then it’ll be in good hands; with Estée Lauder set to purchase Tom Ford soon–alongside its other acquisitions of Clinique, Bobbi Brown, and Mac–its power in the cosmetics industry is unparalleled. Combined with Balmain’s norm-defying mission in fashion, BALMAIN BEAUTY will be a force to be reckoned with.

Where Does Our Makeup Come From: the Origins of Our Favorite Products

Although men and women have been wearing makeup for centuries, the beauty industry today is a far cry from where it began. All across the world, people in ancient Egypt, Rome, and China used coal, beeswax, henna, almonds, lead, berries and copper in various ways as makeup. Today, however, makeup lovers have never been farther away from the origins of the products they love.
The makeup sold today is generally a mixture of water, oil, and wax. Along with certain chemicals which act as preservatives, emulsifiers, or are just added in for ease of application. The third ingredient necessary for the colorful shimmery eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks, and lipglosses are minerals.

How the Internet Created a Booming Beauty Industry

The beauty industry has always been a reliable source of profits. It is one of the few industries that maintains revenues during recessions.
