On a hot summer day, the beach or the pool is always an ideal location to keep cool and have fun. But with the sunlight beating down, it’s important to be wearing the correct brand of sunscreen to not only shield your skin from the dangerous UV rays but not damage your skin and clog your pores. Every face is different therefore requiring you to do some research before purchasing your beach day essential. In this article, I’ll give you some suggestions about different types of sunscreen and what kind of faces they’re meant for. I’ll even add my own experience as someone who has fair skin and is an avid sunscreen user.

Elta MD Skincare
As well as selling skincare products, Elta MD sells a line of Sunscreen products that are not only protecting from UVA but also UVB. Thus, lessening the risk for skin cancer and an overall more trustworthy product. You can purchase their sunscreen in tinted forms which is always beneficial for those who shy away from putting sunscreen on in hopes to get more tan. The facial sunscreens they offer specialize in protecting and calming skin prone to acne and also rosacea. Sunscreens created by dermatologists like Elta should be utilized by those who struggle with skin issues. Professionals do extensive research to create safe and reliable products specifically for troubled skin.

Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer
Not only is this product is used as a sunscreen but also acts as a moisturizer to use when you wake up in the morning so you don’t forget. This product is known to be easy on sensitive skin and even soothes dry, itchy skin. Some beneficial elements include that it is oil and fragrance-free and also water-resistant. Aveeno is a great option if you are on a budget but still want to make the best choice for your skin. Compared to other high-end brands, Aveeno is affordable yet effective.

Neutrogena SheerZinc Dry-Touch Sunscreen Lotion
This sunscreen is the ultimate choice for the “white-nose” look as it is very difficult to rub in and has a thick consistency. BUT, before you rule it out, it has one of the best formulas to protect your skin from the sun. Although not ideal for everyday use, for days you may be in the sun all day long, the white residue would be very much worth it for full-day coverage. It has been known to not cause breakouts and be gentle on sensitive skin as well.

Sun Bum
Sun Bum is a notorious brand especially at shops like surf stores and any beach-related store not only because of their array of products but more importantly the effectiveness of all their products. On top of being cruelty-free, Sun Bum sells sunscreen, clear zinc, tanning oil, and many other products that are reasonably priced and receive positive feedback. In fact, the Skin Cancer Foundation outwardly recommends Sun Bum as your sunscreen choice. The sunscreen enriches your skin with Vitamin E and isn’t hard to come by as your local drugstore probably carries it.
My personal favorite is Sun Bum because even though I do have fair skin, I layer on the sunscreen and the sun tanning oil to still soak up some rays but avoid getting skin cancer or sun poisoning. As a plus, Sun Bum products smell great and are easy to apply and rub in.
