There will be no new music from FKA Twigs for a while following a serious leak of her upcoming unreleased album. The British singer/songwriter broke the news on her Instagram on Sunday, announcing that an unknown hacker targeted her. According to the singer, the hackers leaked 85 of her demos.
“Well done. No new music for a while now. bye,” she wrote. Later, Twigs posted a selfie with her dog with a caption vowing to find the hacker responsible.
Her last album, MAGDALENE, was released in 2019. Since then, her last project was the 2022 mixtape Caprisongs which featured popular artists including Jorja Smith, Pa Salieu, Daniel Caesar, Rema, Unknown T, DYSTOPIA, and Shygirl.
Twigs called CAPRISONGS her journey back to herself in an Instagram post alongside the mixtape’s artwork.
“It’s my stubborn caprisun ass telling me to work thru my pain by delivering at work, don’t think just go studio and create my saggi moon being the enigmatic temptress craving the club, to dance and to be social and my pisce venus hot mess disastrous heart falling in love all over again but this time with music and with myself,” she wrote.
Due to the extent of the leak, all of the music in the unreleased album will likely be scrapped. It’s a major blow to the talented singer’s career, and unfortunately leaks like these have become more common within the music industry in recent years. Last September Kanye West and Dr. Dre’s collaboration album “Jesus Is King 2” was leaked online.
