Free Agent Running Back James Conner Signs with Arizona Cardinals

Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back, James Conner, has signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.  The former third round pick played in Pittsburgh for four seasons and had his ups and downs.  His best year with the team was in 2018,when he rushed for 973 yards and ran for 12 touchdowns.  He also made the pro bowl that season.

Conner has not been able to stay on the field consistently and has not completed a full season without missing time.  The most games he’s played in a single season is 14, and he has played with nagging injuries in the past.  If Conner can stay healthy, the Cardinals may have gottenthemselves a dynamic running back who is motivated to get back to his best.

The Arizona Cardinals needed a running back to replace Kenyan Drake, who went to the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency.  Conner will split touches with Chase Edmonds, but both men will be in position to be the feature back.
