Babe Ruth once said that baseball is the greatest game in the world.
When I saw game one of the 2024 World Series I knew exactly what the Babe was talking about.
Last night was truly a classic.
It had everything that you would want to see in a major sports and entertainment event.
You’re talking about humor, excitement, drama, etc.
It had it all.
I’m a Yankee fan through and through however I’m a baseball fan first.
I knew after that game that every sports show on television and radio were going to question every move made in the game.
They would question why Cole is being taken out when he was ( 7th inning ) Why didn’t Gleyber block the throw from Soto. Why was he pinch ran for… especially when Oswaldo Cabrera could not come up with a difficult ground ball to his right. Then why did Boone bring in Cortez in the 10th …he would eventually give up the game-winning homer to Freddie Freedman.
I found it humorous but at the same time wonderful because in a world that’s going through so much turmoil, it’s fantastic that this great game can help many of us for 3 hours forget some of the pain that as individuals and as a whole, we may be going through.
I don’t know about you but I know why I love baseball so much.
I come from a home where we had 7 boys in the house. I’m the only one living… I can honestly say that it’s because of baseball.
Thank you baseball… and as a fan I say…
GO YANKEES!
