Going Bananas for Bananas

Did you know that bananas are considered a berry? Did you also know that they are not only delicious, but versatile? Although they can be an acquired taste, there are many ways you can cook a banana. Below are some of the many ways that bananas come in handy when you are craving a snack or meal that is on the sweeter side.

  • Banana Pancakes

Jack Johnson had the right idea when he wrote and produced “Banana Pancakes”. This addition to a breakfast classic is a great way to make your Sunday mornings that much brighter. Because of the versatility of bananas, adding cinnamon to the mix makes it that more interesting.

  • Banana Ice Cream

This dessert is not only delicious but easy to make. Simply freezing bananas and throwing them in the blender makes for a healthy dessert. Adding your favorite juices or milks will make for a better consistency and taste.

  • Banana Toast

As avocado toast gains popularity many are overlooking the fact that bananas are delicious on toast.  Bananas with peanut butter, honey, and cinnamon on toast makes for an awesome breakfast meal or snack. Along with banana toast, do not forget the fact that making banana bread is both entertaining and delicious!

  • Chocolate Dipped Bananas

Chocolate dipped bananas are a great dessert for a hot day. Freezing the bananas, dipping it in your favorite chocolate, and adding fun toppings is a great spin on the regular banana.

  • Bananas and Peanut Butter

Although this is not as interesting as the other options, just having a banana and peanut butter is not only delicious, but great for when you are on the go. Also, at most supermarkets you can find pouches of peanut butter that you can easily throw in your bag for when you do not have time to crack open a jar at home!

Whether you like your bananas with peanut butter, chocolate, cinnamon, honey, or all the above, this fruit can be eaten in so many different ways. The multitude of opportunities allows for you to enjoy bananas both on the go and at home!

As someone who eats plenty of eggs, the higher prices have not slipped my attention. If you have been grocery shopping recently, or even checked social media, it’s pretty obvious that egg prices are soaring. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average price of a dozen eggs rose 59% last year with prices more than doubling in West Virginia and six other states in the upper Midwest. This jump in price was even more shocking in the case of eggs classified grade A, with prices soaring up to almost 140%.

In 1968, Chinese-American physician Robert Ho Man Kwok penned what he thought was a lighthearted letter to The New England Journal of Medicine. He wrote of experiencing numbness, palpitations, and weakness after eating in Chinese restaurants in the US, and wondered whether the monosodium glutamate used by the cooks here might be behind his strange illness. The consequences of Kwok’s letter were far-reaching and devastating. MSG, then a common food enhancer, was immediately tagged as a toxin in the public eye, a move supported by flawed “research”, and was removed from nearly every commercially-available food found on store shelves.

FIFA Investigates How Celebrity Chef Salt Bae Got Into World Cup Final

On December 18, Argentina triumphed over France during the World Cup final and reveled in an exciting victory. But while people took to the streets to celebrate, something else was afoot in the winner’s circle at the tournament.
