Guardian Angels Return 30 Years Later to Help a Neighborhood in Need

In the late 1980’s we worked in the area of Bushwick, Brooklyn on our “Crack Down on Crack”. At the time Maria Hernandez and her husband were leading an effort to get rid of the crack dealers in Bushwick. One nite they fired 5 bullets into the Hernandez House killing Maria. We came to the aid of that community then and have now returned to help again. Knickerbocker Park was renamed Maria Hernandez Park so that her memory would live on. EQ aka Benjamin Garcia recently had major knee surgery. He has returned to our ranks to help train this local GA effort. Another community has turned to the Guardian Angels to help them take back their neighborhood. We did it in 1990 and we are prepared to do it again in 2020. Henry Baez had always wanted to be a Guardian Angel since he was a child. He now is not only a member but is leading our patrol in the area as his community has reached out to the Guardian Angels.
