Hallmark Channel “Christmas in July” to Feature 3 New Movies

Father’s Day, which is June 19th this year, is right around the corner. While some people opt for a gift or card to give to their dad, others prefer to enjoy the day together. If your dad enjoys quality time with you and loves movies, a nice relaxing day on the couch may be exactly what he needs on the day that’s all about him. If you’re not looking to re-watch his favorite film for what feels like the millionth time, here are five films that can be found on Netflix, perfect for watching with your dad.

Father of the Year (2018) is a comedy starring David Spade who causes trouble for his son Ben by taking a bet between Ben and his friend Larry way too seriously. The two friends bet that their fathers would not be able to beat each other in a fight. Ben’s father takes the bet so seriously that he shows up on Larry’s dad’s doorstep ready to fight, and his reckless actions cause Ben to lose his job and relationships. The film is perfect if you’re looking for a fun and light-hearted choice.

Fatherhood (2021) is a movie adaptation of a memoir titled Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love by Matthew Logelin. It is the story of a widowed father named Matthew, played by Kevin Hart, who is struggling with the unexpected death of his wife and raising his baby daughter alone. The film features a wonderful cast and a heartwarming story. If you and your dad enjoy something more on the serious side, this one is for you.

Yes Day (2021) is a great movie if your mom is also joining the watch party. For 24 hours, parents Allison and Carlos decide to allow their kids to make the rules and they must say “yes” to their kid’s wild requests. Starring Jennifer Garner and Édgar Ramírez, the movie is sure to have everyone laughing at what the parents have gotten themselves into.

Hustle (2022) is Adam Sandler’s newest movie, which premiered on Netflix on June 3rd and as of June 15th, ranked number one on Netflix’s top 10 movie list. Sandler plays a basketball scout named Stanley who has recently had bad luck when he discovers a street ball player in Spain. He hopes the player will be able to make it to the NBA, so he brings him back to the US. Much of the film is focused on Stanley’s attempt to save his career, however, this causes a strain on his relationship with his daughter, who he tries his best to see. It is a great film overall, and a great example of a complicated relationship between a father and his kid.

Mind-Bending Movies to Watch if You Liked Inception

One of the best (and my personal favorite) genres in movie watching is mind-bending, also called thought-provoking movies. Movies that have hidden twist and turns just subtle enough to captivate and completely alter the audience’s perception of the film are exciting and riveting! Most mind-bending movies are fast paced with high stakes, revealing little bits and pieces of the ending so subtly that by the end of the movie, the audience doesn’t know what hit them!
