On Halloween night in Salem, Massachusetts, Hubie Dubois, self-appointed Halloween monitor, makes it his duty to ensure that the town of Salem has a safe and happy Halloween. Although he is a point of ridicule in his town, nothing can stop Hubie from protecting even those who give him tricks instead of treats. This year, however, Hubie is confronted with new obstacles, including a strange new neighbor, kidnappings, and an escaped patient from the nearby mental institution.
As a Happy Madison Production, Adam Sandler returns with his staple style of comedy and a cast of favorites. The film stars Sandler and many of his traditional co-stars, such as Rob Schneider, Kevin James, Maya Rudolph, and Steve Buscemi. However, the film also features several other notable stars as part of its exceptional cast. Alongside the familiar faces of a Sandler film are Julie Bowen, Ray Liotta, June Squibb, Noah Schnapp, and Kenan Thompson.
With a fantastic cast and an underdog storyline, Hubie Halloween delivers a heartwarming horror comedy that is a perfect for an October movie night. Watching the film, I found myself hoping that there was more left as I approached the end.
The film has a runtime of 102 minutes and was released on October 7th. It is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
