Hamilton Goes Disney Plus

I have a full transparency policy with my readers, which means that I owe it to you all to let you know that I am currently listening to the entire Hamilton soundtrack as I am writing this. It’s just so amazing!

It’s easy to imagine my reaction when I found out that the broadway musical production, Hamilton, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda was going to be available through Disney Plus considering I have been listening to this soundtrack religiously since 2015. There were tears, there were laughs, but most importantly, there was immeasurable joy.

On July 3rd, 2020, the musical will be available in its entirety on Disney Plus for audiences to watch. The recording will be that of a live show of the original Broadway cast during 2016.

There were plans for the movie to be released in theatres in October 2021, but it was decided to bring it directly onto Disney Plus 15 months in advance due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The movie is directed by Thomas Kail, but the story is still the same one written by Miranda about the US founding father and first Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton.

The Pulitzer Award for Drama (2016) and 11 Tony Awards winner Lin Manuel Miranda took to twitter to express his excitement for his hip-hop modern retelling of Hamilton’s story to be available for audiences everywhere.

While Broadway in New York is unfortunately taking a big hit because of the pandemic, we are all still able to experience the magic Hamilton right from our homes!
