HBO Original Series ‘The Last of Us’ Renewed for a Second Season

It’s official, ‘The Last of Us’ has been renewed for a second season, but details on the release date are yet to be confirmed. If you haven’t watched the show already, then let’s fill you in on the details.

The post-apocalyptic series is set in the year 2023, and it has been twenty years since the zombie-like fungal plague collapsed society. The protagonist Ellie Williams (Bella Ramsey), is a teenager who is immune to the fungal infection, and Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler in the Boston quarantine zone, is tasked to escort her across the United States in order to develop a vaccine from her immunity.

If you didn’t know already, this show is based on the 2013 video game developed by Naughty Dog, and the first season is very faithful to the game. However, if you have never played the game, you’re in luck because you do not need to know anything about the game to understand the show. But for those who are familiar with the game, you are sure to get a kick from all the easter eggs that allude back to the game’s storytelling, as well as some additional context about the characters and their backstories.

All we can hope for now is that the second season stays true to the game and everyone all around will be able to enjoy the doom and gloom surrounding the franchise.
