How Sienna Mae Gomez Broke the Internet Overnight

There is no question that the body positivity movement has recently gained a lot of popularity. Accepting our bodies and loving all our flaws is incredibly important, but it is easier said than done. There are lot of role models and social media influencers who are major advocates for the message of body positivity, but one new influencer that became famous almost overnight is Sienna Mae Gomez. On August 15th, Sienna Mae posted a TikTok video of her dancing to the infamous WAP song by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. In this video she accepts the fact that she does not live up to society’s expectations of the “perfect” body. This video alone has more than 18 million views.

Although she is only 16 years old, Sienna is teaching her viewers every day that beauty is not only subjective but comes from within. Her TikTok account already has more than 7.1 million followers, and within a matter of weeks she was hanging out with other influencers from the platform. In fact, fans are questioning her flirty relationship with Jack Wright, who has 5.6 million followers on the app. In addition to her TikTok account, Sienna has a YouTube channel which already has 135k followers.

One trend she has encouraged is for girls to not hide their stomachs and instead practice self-love. Along with this, she is known for her silly squirrel dance, which people are trying to create daily. It is her loving attitude and outgoing personality that have taken her career to new heights in a matter of weeks. It is also incredible to see her teach young girls that not everything on social media is always 100% true.
