Bio

Percy Chamburuka, professionally known as Jafaris, is an Irish rapper, singer, and songwriter of Zimbabwean origin. Born on February 19, 1995, in Zimbabwe, he moved to Tallaght, Dublin, at the age of six, where he was raised and attended Old Bawn Community School. Initially trained as a dancer from a young age, he discovered his passion for singing and songwriting at 15.

In 2015, Jafaris started touring with the Irish rap duo Hare Squead and collaborated with Diffusion Labs, a creative hub functioning as a label and studio, working with writers, musicians, and producers. However, his true musical journey began when he made his solo debut with the EP “Velvet Cake” in 2017. It was during this time that he adopted the stage name Jafaris, which he randomly generated through an application, he also became one of the “core acts” associated with Diffusion Labs.

He showcased his talents at various festivals, including Forbidden Fruit and Hard Working Class Heroes, and even performed with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra as part of the Story of Hip Hop at Electric Picnic. His independent debut studio album, “Stride,” was released on March 8, 2019, featuring successful singles like “Found My Feet,” “Time,” and “Invisible.” The album garnered acclaim from local critics and earned a nomination for the prestigious Choice Music Prize, recognizing the best Irish Album of the Year. Through his unique blend of rap and soulful vocals, Jafaris has established himself as a rising star in the Irish music scene, captivating audiences with his compelling artistry and talent.
