The 55 year old actor, singer and comedian issued a brief statement on May 3rd, to his fans via Instagram, following a health scare that led to him being hospitalized. In a post liked by nearly 700,000 people, he simply said: “Appreciate all the love!!! Feeling Blessed.”
The comments section was littered with love and well-wishes from fellow actors and musicians, as well as fans. Nick Cannon, who will be filling in for Jamie Foxx in hosting the show Beat Shazaam, said “Man, I’m praying, I literally have been saying prayers out loud. Words of affirmation for my big brother. I know he’s doing so much better.” Kelly Osbourne will also be joining Beat Shazaam to DJ in place of Corinne Foxx, Jamie Foxx’s daughter.
Kevin Hart, during an appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast, Impaulsive, emphasized that Foxx has always been quite private but he’s sending well-wishes. “Jamie’s always been a private person to a certain degree, but I think the dope thing is that he’s getting better in his situation and everybody’s prayers, everybody’s love, energy, all that stuff is seen and felt. You just want the guy to get out of the situation and to get back home.”
The general public became privy to Foxx’s medical complications when his daughter, Corinne Foxx, issued a statement via Instagram, on April 12th. She mentioned that her father had experienced a medical complication but reassured fans that the situation was hopeful.
“Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
A representative of the Foxx family confirmed the news to NBC, stating, “His condition was serious enough that Jamie’s family, some of whom were not in town, came to the hospital,”
